My last offshore trip........

You may be interested to know what I am up to.... so on this last trip I was on this vessel......

My company outfitted this vessel with the crane, and the sole purpose of the vessel is to raise and lower subsea assets to the ocean floor to be installed, removed, upgraded, connected by ROV operations.

Shell tells the vessel where to go, we get to the spot, crane lowers the equipment, FMC guys and the ROV techs watch as it gets near the sea floor, then the ROV uses it's tools to do the work, then we move off to another spot and do another job.

My job is to support the crane technically. It is quite complex and smart, with heave compensation to keep the load at the same depth no mater what the waves, etc. are doing

Oh man the scope of these projects out there is unreal. The amount of combined resources used to get the oil out of the ground, or for now, control it and store it is staggering. I never knew the amount of rigs, ships, equipment, etc. In play until now. There is a ton of money spent doing what they do out there.
