      The blue beehive springs?

Unless you want to do an aftermarket cam, then do a dual valve spring. I like the Brian Tooley Racing ones.

I've changed every 3k with full synthetic. From what I've read online ls motors are prone to lifter tick, and piston slap. It's my first cheby so I don't know too much about them. Shoulda gone ford...

Maintenance and cost of ownership wise I think you probably did good with the 5.3 over a 5.4.

yeah, but that was 10yrs ago... I'd say if you've gotten 10 trouble-free years out of it, you can't really expect that a Ford would have done better.

I've seen F150's with cam issues also from that era. I think you chose the right truck

                  This, plus 05 5.3 > 3v 5.4

A small cam would really wake it up!

Wish I knew exactly. They were all clean inside w no sludge or build up. This one only wiped out 2 lobes and 1 lifter. The others had a few more in a random order. Wonder if bad materials or treatment. Good time to upgrade if ya gotta do it.
And you did fine going with Chevy. Dodge would have been better

What does the tune change to prevent this issue?
