Looking for somebody to do a lifter job on my 2005 Tahoe, 5.3. I've got the lifters and gaskets, just need someone to do the labor, I just don't have the time. Would really prefer not to take it to the stealership. Thanks in advance.

Make sure to check for pitted camshaft lobes while they're in there. The 5 lifter noise suspects all needed cams too

If the cam is bad I'm thinking it might be cheaper to do a reman long block if that's the case...

Put a hot cam in what you've got.

Might as well just throw in a 3/4 race cam while it's apart. If you can't afford it just go the ghost cam route.

                LOL at 3/4 race cam!

A cam would be a great upgrade, it will require a custom tune though.

custom tune would have kept that original cam and lifters from getting chewed up in the first place.

Active Fuel Management definitely needs to be turned off after the fix. Is the truck drivable?

Gotta ask, why not just drop a low mileage LKQ engine in it?

Truck drives great, smooth as can be. Lifter chatter comes and goes, sounds like an old sewing machine. I pulled the valve covers off last month and sprayed a can b12 down the pushrods and lifters, changed oil etc etc. it was nice and quiet for a week or so but the lifter noise came back. The truck is damn clean and I really don't want another car payment, I'm hoping a lifter job solves the problem.

05 is just regular lifters. No DOD shit.. Simple job, tune doesn't effect them..... I would upgrade to ls9 springs while you're there. Cheap too.

I dunno bout the 3/4 cams. Maybe just a smaller RV cam for it lol.
