  • Wet weather gear?

Seeing as we're apparently in monsoon season here and it doesn't seem to be letting up any time soon, I'll be doing a good bit of welding/installs out in the rain. Does anyone have any suggestions for tops or bottoms that keep you dry and breathe well. The problem I find is that the wet weather gear bakes you and then you're just as drenched from sweat as you would be from the rain.

I haven't ever found anything that works worth a crap. Maybe make a lean-to with a tarp and some ropes if possible?

I avoid welding in the wet.

Stick to synthetic materials down to socks and undies.

I am in the same boat. REI has some nice stuff but you are soaking wet and simmering in your own juices when you wear it.

I used all the military gear, but frogg toggs are by far the best things I've used. Bottoms and hooded top for under 50.

I do too as I've been zapped far too many times. But this constant rain is killing my work schedule. Will probably have to get some kind of portable canopy :/

              I'll check them out, thanks

Frog Toggs rock so hard. It's for sure not fire-resistant, though.

I was going to suggest Frog Toggs as well.

                      Funny because it's true.

That's the shitty thing about waterproof gear. The good stuff is so waterproof that it holds in every bit of heat your body puts off, and when you combine that with the 100% humidity thanks to the rain... why fucking bother.

Yeah exactly. Your going to get wet. Just need to be able to shed layers and dry them off during dry patches and then put them back on as needed, and repeat.
