Is it possible to remove the top shell on those jet skis to gain more room? My sis has an RXT and I'm sure I will be wrenching on it shortly as it's an 04 model with supercharger

This is why I like the new splash models. Not only are they reasonable at 5k, you can pull the entire top half off of them to get to the engines. Going to buy some of those this winter when the market is cheap.

I have plenty of fun, and under two grand in my old Polaris skis and trailer combined.

That way if it's to be a costly repair you can simply relist it for the $500 and be done with it.

Unless you can get it fired up easily on site, I would personally pass.
This is what I've seen with the couple of folks I've known to have issues with PWCs.

If you do decide to buy it, look around TFF - there are several on-the-side mechanics with great reputations that will probably do the work a lot cheaper than a shop.

Also, take the boater's education course before you take it out.

I researched it today. At factory they install engine drive straps etc onto lower hull. The top shell is then fitted onto the bottom hull using heat activated glue. Then they ultrasound around it to make sure it's bonded and won't leak. Would be a lot easier if you could remove upper shell while doing engine swap like at factory.

Lol. Just open a cowling or look at the bondline and its evident they're not riveted together. The rivets are likely holding the bump railing on, nothing more.

Didn't something already cut board posts in half?
