Title issue question

I'll be calling the tax office in the morning but figured I'd ask here as well. Picked up a truck and the previous owner lost the title. Is there any way to transfer the truck from him to me without ordering a new title and waiting the 4 weeks it takes to get here, or does he have to request a new title and then sign over it to me?

He can go in person, pay $5.45 and get a certified copy right then and there.

You can get a copy of his drivers license, have him fill out this FORMand specify you as the person to receive the title, then go to the Carrolton DMV and Like posted above for $5.45 walk out with a title. Then have him sign it and fill out this FORMand then transfer it into your name....
