Good stuff. If I figure this out well enough, I'll post some results.

Can you download your Sketchup drawing to a file that home designers can use to draw up prints?

Anyone know the difference between the free Sketchup Make and Sketchup Pro... besides the $500+ price tag?

I can sure as hell print screen to a word doc! I just want to get my idea down on paper so the builder knows hat I'm after. Not to mention cert ng the bad ideas out of the way before they cost me money.

unless it well drawn its not worth the time to the draftsman. Even if its well drawn, it may take more time trying to get the file into their standards, and into revit

It appears the pro version can export .DWG, .dxf and a few other file types used by 3D designers. I'm sure there are more differences, but most seem to lie in the exportability and ability to create actual drawings.

.DWG and .dxf are quite common standards and should be importable by most drafters. I'm not sure I've ever used a program that can't handle those drawing formats.

I used my 3D design software to convey some flatwork geometry to my home builder and that was good enough. It wasn't ever intended for architectural.

I'm no Michelangelo, and I haven't had a lot of time to play, but I'm making some progress. Initial take of Sketchup: Less difficult than I expected. It does take some getting used to. I have less patience with myself the older I get. This can't be this easy, but it is.
                          Thanks for the suggestion!
My initial results. Hopefully I'll find more time to get my ideas down.

I had the entire building built, then I kept watching tutorials and they brought up something I had never thought of. Walls have depth. Scrapped that whole think, now I'm rebuilding it with 6 inch walls. I'll post a screenie of what I've gotten back to so far when I get back to my computer.

That would be great. I figure I'll draw this several times. Each iteration with more and more detail. I have plans for a perpendicular porch coming off the front but that will come as I'm not that good, yet.
