Anyone else get a huge ass bump recently? TAD bumped my value 10k last year, and then 10 months later I get a notice they bumped it 25k MORE than that? 35k increase in value in 22 months?

I would double check the capped amount they can increase your homestead to make sure they're not doing anything funny. Also, you can always protest your tax value. I used to do that with my rental properties and could usually get 10-15k knocked off a property. June 2nd is the deadline.Last edited by phaux; 04-28-2015, 06:26 PM.

For Denton county I just go to the office and get them to lower it. The first year I went in with printed comparables and they didn't do me any good, but they still lowered it. Ever since then I have just gone in and been really nice and asked them to lower it. Least amount they have dropped it by was 20k.

CJ, you can mail in your protest, or do it on their site maybe too I believe. When we bought our house in NFW/Keller, we got it for way less than value, so when we got our tax appraisal it was about $40k more than what we paid. I just sent them a copy of what we got the house for and a request to set a date for a review. They sent me back a letter saying it was approved and would be lowered, no need to come in person.
