What if you owned a bit of land and could put your own makeshift (but usable) runway on it? An old fashioned dirt runway. That way you could keep it in your own hangar and not have to pay all those damn fees. From this thread it looks like you'd save about $500 per month if you had some land.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

I almost followed through on a rotary license. I lucked out and had a neighbor who was an instructor and we went up during his maintenance flights. But the costs were just insane and I never followed through with any solo flights.
If I ever do get the itch again it will be with a gyro-copter. Zoom zoom!

As far as flying, I came to my senses and realized I can't afford to maintain a plane. When I get the itch I'll probably do a lesson with a pilot that will let me take control in the air for a little bit and then I'll hand it over to him again. I spend a bunch of money on stupid stuff as it is.
