I miss the RV-7 I was building, but wife and kids took front seat in my life. I've owned a Cherokee 180, and been in several flying clubs. You can't beat a flying club if you're flying less than 125 - 150 hours per year. Lots of them around.
When I was working on my Instrument rating, my CFII (old man, ex navy pilot) gave me a bit of advice:
"If it flies, floats, or fucks.... RENT IT!"
