  • How do you like your bacon cooked?

A co-worker was talking about how he smoked some bacon this weekend and we got on the subject of how we liked our bacon cooked. He preferred his bacon more rare and chewy where I like my bacon more done and crispy. This also brought up discussion with my girl because I cooked bacon tonight and she made a comment how I cook it perfectly and what was my secret.

So, how do you like your bacon cooked?

I friended a polish chick when I was living in austin who ate it completely, totally, 100% raw. Daily. The same way we eat cheese as a snack she ate bacon like that.

That's how you get trichinosis. I like thick cut bacon, cooked slow until crispy. The oven does a pretty good job.

Cook it on an iron skillet, I usually prefer it on the softer side.

You know I've tried baking it in the oven multiple times and have never had any success. Low and slow in a skillet works best for me.

I like it soft. Turn the edges slightly brown then pull it off. Good to go.

We just started cooking our bacon in the oven. We put a layer of foil in a cooking tray, lay the bacon down on the foil, and put it in a 450 degree oven. You have to drain it a couple of times, but it comes out perfect in my opinion. We used to cook it in the microwave, but you get inconsistent results and sometimes you end up burning some pieces. Wright Brand thick cut or any thick cut bacon you can buy at a butcher.

I thought they irradiated all pork products these day to kill those buggers.

I get a broiler pan, then wire cookie racks in it. Put the bacon on the wire racks and the drippings get caught in the broiler pan. Put it in the oven cold, and set to 325F. About the time the oven get to temperature (about 20 minutes), the bacon is cooked. If not, I'll set the timer another 5 minutes.

Stiff, but not crispy to the point it changes the flavor.

I like it chewy, and crispy. Really doesn't matter. I like it more chewy for breakfast, poppers, etc, but more crispy for sammiches or BLT's.

This, chewy can be a handful on a sammich.

I'll take it any way I can get it though

Fried until it's not chewy but not too crispy...
