Jluv.. Make sure you ask about their standard insurance and optional insurance. I was watching one of the judge shows and apparently most states only require their standard (included) insurance to pay out at $0.60 per pound. So if they destroy a $1,000 dresser that weighs 75lbs, you will only get $45.

I mention this for you specifically because you do have so much "new" nice shit, and it sounds like stuff may be loaded and unloaded a couple of times. So depending on the cost of the optional insurance, it may be worth your while.

I sold a bunch of large stuff , then I used a huge Penske box truck with a car on a trailer behind it. Everyone else in the family car following. I drove through a lot of mountain passes and steep grades, no problem. It wasn't fast but but we got here.

Ya, I talked to Sunflower today, and that was one of the things we went over. The only issue with them is that they can't give me a very accurate estimate. The total price will depend on weight, and they can only guess until they actually put the truck on the scales with my stuff in it.

Based on the size and "fullness" of my storage units, they say my shit should weigh no more than 12,250 lbs, and at that weight, the price is about $7200 with the full insurance. If my stuff only weighs 8000 lbs, it would be right at $5k.

The biggest (26') U-Haul is right at $900, and then I have to figure about $500 in fuel, and then maybe $500 for in-town muscle when I get there to help me unload everything. To be on the safe side, I'll figure $2000 total to do it that way. Honestly, I am leaning towards doing it this way. That $3000-$5000 we save can go towards a hot tub, and every time we soak in that bitch, we'll agree that it was worth it.

The good news that I just thought of is that there are things I moved previously that I won't have to move this time. I sold my fridge, oven, and microwave. We aren't taking our king-sized mattress, since we are ready for a new one anyway, and will just buy it up there. there are two large loveseats that we will leave behind. And fuck the pool table!

I'd come get the table if gas wasn't so so high.

Btw, if you move yourself, you gonna be towing a car? What are you doing with the exploder?

Free! I have one guy who says he will get it this weekend, but if he doesn't, you can be next up. I will NOT help move it. You'd need to hire some pros.

If it was only an extra 1-2k, maybe. But for $3k+ difference, we'll cuss and sweat, but enjoy the savings. We plan to buy a 4-wheeler, snowmobile, and hot tub in the first few months there, so the extra cash will be nice.

Not towing shit. We'll drive my truck up the first time, and bring hers up the next time, since we will be back and forth a lot. I don't plan to take the Explorer. I want to sell it before I leave, and I'll sell it stupid cheap.

I know it will be. I'll still spend 30-40% of my time in TX, working out of the office here. That way, while I'm here, I can spend some evenings and weekends with family and friends and not let the culture shock freak me out too bad. Then I can use my vacation time for tropical places and whatnot, so it's a win-win.
I'm jelly, going up there in six weeks for an entire week, cannot wait. What line of work will you be in up there?
