My cousin and I U-hauled it from DFW to San Diego, with my truck on a tow dolly. Wasn't bad, but I didn't have quite the amount of stuff to move.

When I From San Diego to Sacramento work paid for a moving company, I boxed everything, then they loaded, shipped, and unloaded the boxes. It was about $3k if I remember right, and will go this route, if/when we move next time.

Moving can be an emotional time as it is, minimize the stress, and let someone else do the work.

They said the high price was because of the destination being in BFE. It's a long way from anything resembling a city.

And put your heavy furniture in the house, where you tell 'em. Which is great, when you have awkward shape or bulky stuff. They had to take the door off my fridge (awkward kitchen location) and disassemble a couch (too small of a door way) when I last used a moving service.

That and it's pack your stuff in a day, load the truck the day you move and then unload in one day. They had a crew of four do us that move.

Thanks man. You're so right. Took me long enough, but I always knew it would happen eventually. Everything I've done in the past couple of years has been geared towards making it happen.

I know it will be. I'll still spend 30-40% of my time in TX, working out of the office here. That way, while I'm here, I can spend some evenings and weekends with family and friends and not let the culture shock freak me out too bad. Then I can use my vacation time for tropical places and whatnot, so it's a win-win.

My moves to San Francisco and back were done through mayflower and I didn't lift a finger. I have a contact here who got me discounted rates. She was great to deal with.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

I'd imagine you're going to get the same from everyone. Very remote, not a full load, difficult to manuever = go away price. But those are the same reason it would be worth it to pay to have it done.

Mel paid $1400 from Jax to DFW, but she didn't have near the stuff you guys have.

Hell yeah, the only regret I have is not getting to visit "home" often enough, which you've got covered. Hell, you'll be home more often then I would, given the choice.

It was one of the selling points when I pitched the idea of working remote to the VP of the company. That, and I'm their top producer. I would have eventually moved to CO regardless, but moving there with my current income makes a huge difference.
