When did the fha become mandatory for 11 years?

This is all I could find and this was as of 2015 loans

Note, however, that the number of years that a homeowner must pay FHA MIP varies by loan type. Loans for which the initial downpayment was 10% or more carry FHA MIP for 11 years from the date of the mortgage.

You can get around pmi with an 80/15/5 loan.

Can you get a USDA loan? The PMI is much lower and they don't require a down payment.

PMI on an FHA ends at 5 years only if you have paid down 20% of the loan

we financed something 82% on an FHA loan, the lady said it would be 5 years. I asked if I could put another 3% down and not have PMI and she said it did matter that it would be 5 years on FHA loan. This was in Summer 2013

If your FHA case number was / is assigned on or after June, 3 2013 then you have at least 11 years of mortgage insurance unless you refinance to conventional.

Gonzo, I would call your person and find out when your FHA case number was actually assigned.
