  • Anyone selling a reliable car under $5k? Replacing the malibu

Since they stole my mom's Malibu I'm trying to find her a reliable ride for under $5k. My mom's broke so I'm pulling out the savings and buying it for her.

An upgrade over a 2000 malibu please. Lol. I've seen a ton on craigslist and autotrader. I figured I'd ask y'all first though.

I'd focus on reliability. Lincoln LS was a pretty good car when new, but by now I think you get stuck in an endless cycle of replacing coil packs.

I have an 01 Honda CR-V with 140k, just took it to Houston and back. Auto, fwd, pwr everything, everything works, gets 27mpg on average I'll sell for $3750.

And those are just the stains from driving around Houston.

Even if you use Ford OEM? I know lots of aftermarket coil packs suck.

I buy the made in china ones off ebay. 70K on a set for my dads 5.4L F150. Not bad consider a set of 8 costs the same as a single ford unit.
