So , I just got a phone call that they found it at a chop shop and they took it to the Dallas police auto pound on vilbig. I can't even go check and see what all is left of it since it's under my mom's name. I told my uncle to go with her and not pay a dime to get it out until they see it first. It might just be a shell. I'm thinking go just leaving it there. We'll see how it looks.

If it's anything like the one over by the stockyards they wouldn't even let me see my bike before I had to pay $300 to get it out and it was totaled.

I've been to public auto auctions before where I've met people who had their car stolen/recovered(typically a 10+ year old Honda with liability-only) and it ends-up being at an impound lot for 30-40 days before the owner is notified, and of course the bill is $1k+ to get their car back. The owners are at the auction bidding on it trying to get it cheaper, and obviously already have the title/keys/etc.

People will pick up junk cars off the side of the road and stash them till they get enough for a crusher/recycler to pay em. Big money in it....

Probably fairly intact. I can't see that being a big car for parts. Usually when called you can ask for vehicle condition. We always tell the other city the condition and what's missing.

So the Malibu has seen better days... no engin, ttansmission, stereo... pretty much nothing. They destroyed the poor car.

On a side note, anyone selling a cheap reliable car? I need to get something for my mom. She's all freaked out about getting to work.

Define cheap. I have a 99 BMW 328i right now. 5 speed, 166K, runs great, has cosmetic issues on the interior. $2300

Wtf?! Engine breaks down on the side of the road and then this is all that remains of the car? What the hell kind of chop shop just destroys a car. You'd think they'd at least want some of it to be in good working order

I'm thinking we need a new punishment for vehicle theft. Hanging.
