  • Anyone have their Ex increase the child support on you?

Been paying since 2004. Bought the child support down with a cash settlement an after 11 years she wants more.

Son is 16, I am paying for his car/insurance/medical bills ($502)and his gas.

Year ago last February, he was in an accident on a bicycle. Approx $10k plus out of pocket an I am still paying on them. She has paid nothing on medical.

Does this shit account for anything pertaining to the increase she wants to hit me with?

          Get a lawyer...

In most cases, an increase in child support coincides with an increase in income of the person paying the support.
(Did you get a raise recently?)

You are probably stipulated to carry the health insurance and half of all "out of pocket" costs.

As far as I am aware, you should be covering:

-Your normal support - (whatever monthly amount has been re-negotiated with the AG's office via the cash settlement)
          -Health\Dental Insurance coverage
-Half of "out of pocket" Health\Dental Costs

If you are paying for anything more you are being generous.

          * I'm not a lawyer by any means so your mileage may vary....

I'll also say to get a lawyer. It sounds like you're possibly paying even more than you should be at this point. And he's 16. He should get a job and pay for his own gas at least.

When I was paying CS, anything over the court mandated amount was considered a free gift. If you make more, she can take you back to court to increase her monthly amount.
My wifes niece did that about a year ago, but he's a deadbeat as far as paying for anything extra, or buying them stuff when they visit him.

Crazy thing is, when it comes to medical it just says we shall both provide medical and dental care. Nothing about who pays out of pocket.

It's not that I am making that much more. But I shelled out a cash settlement at the time of the divorce and as of right now she can increase it up to $400 more than what I am paying according to what I make.

If that were to happen, then my son's car would have to go. So she is just screwing him over for being pissed at me.

I have 2 appts with attorneys this week. I hate lawyers. They will probably tell me what I want to hear just to get some money out of me.

Well, like said before, I have full documents on the loan of the car, the insurance I am paying and the medical. If these are considered a gift, then I will sell the car to make the payments. She can buy the car which would cost the same if not more than what I am paying.

no, a more likely scenario is they tell the client the truth and because that individual does not like the answer they will come on a non legal website and ask for advice. just be open minded and ask tough questions and you will get answers.

I'll never understand why people gift money to their exes and then get miffed when things go south.
