Two ways of doing it. The bag method, or they can attach the small intestine directly to the poop chute.

Spoke to surgeon, surgery is Monday. No colostomy, small intestine will be connected to the end. Doesn't seem so bad.

That's going to be the best outcome for you. You life should go on fairly normally. Good luck with the surgery.

I had a partial colostomy at 17 then a total 6 years ago at age 38, I have a j pouch . There is a learning cure as with everything , feel free to pm me with any questions or concerns . My daughter had a total at 17, there are things that can go wrong make sure and talk everything through with your doctor . I had two surgerys at 38. The first was the build of the j pouch with a temporary colostomy bag for 3 months while the pouch tip issue was allowed to strengthen so as not to tear . Again talk with your doctor . I can't emphasis this enough.

This. My bro had major complications from a resection this year and spent 90+ days in the hospital. Finally got everything relatively under control and did another resection and an ilostomy(sp?). Hopefully in two weeks they reverse that as well and yes back to normal.

I've been in on the operation/treatment/hospitalization side of these surgeries. If you have any technical/medical questions I can help.
