  • Anyone here have a newer Taurus SHO?

After going around and around with the wife on me getting out of the BRZ and into something with 4 doors, I think I'll probably end up in a new, or slightly used (hopefully 2013 or newer) SHO. I'm going to go test drive one in the next couple weeks, but I wanted to get some opinions on the car from people on here who have either gone to test drive one or have owned one. TIA.

I do believe Jimmy (Treadhead) owns one in real life and drives the police package professionally.

Maybe he will chime in at some point. If not, I will PM him later. Anyone else?

I daily a 2010 with the performance package and livernois tune. With bliztek tires and the awd this colorado winter wasn't a problem.

Yeah, the reason I was looking at 2013 or newer ones is because the performance package adds bigger brakes, stiffer springs, more cooling, and better stability control deactivation than the 2010-2012 models. Did you do a dyno comparison for numbers before and after the tune?

Which is great until they brake.

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

God dammit. Fixed it. Ever since I went from IT to IT Sales, I feel like I've started getting dumber.

I'd also look at the Lincoln MKZ. You can get the exact same drivetrain without all the markup dealers expect for an SHO.

The MKS has the available 3.5 EcoBoost; the MKZ only has the 2.0 EcoBoost and the 3.7 liter NA V6. I think the MKS is ugly, and the prices look to be about the same as the SHO.

No dyno numbers but it's impossible to not notice a difference.

Thanks, man. Is Livernois the predominant tuner for these?

Plans were for a turbo kit, but those plans were derailed with the arrival of our first child. I probably wouldn't be getting rid of it if I didn't need a usable back seat and more doors.

Believe it or not, I think you'll be happier with the SHO.

I'm sure you're right. I'm positive it will be more comfortable; it will definitely be more practical (in terms of usable space, not gas mileage); and as much as I love rowing gears, I'm sure I will be super thankful for the automatic transmission on my daily commute in stop-and-go traffic.
