  • Buying a used air compressor....

A friend of mine has no use for his 60 gallon Porter Cable anymore. I think I can pick it up really cheap, my only concern is it has been sitting for probably 5 years. I went out there and looked at it today, it did have air in the tank, which I let out. And then opened the drain on the bottom. Water came out, but it was clean water. Tank was built in 2000.

I guess my concern is I don't want a ticking time bomb that could explode in my garage. . should I be concerned? I feel much more comfortable after seeing clean water come out. Cranked it up and it started to pressurize, but of course I didn't let it build all the way up because I'm sure the oil in the pump should be changed before it runs too much.

Images may not work because Tapatalk sucks.

It should be fine if the price is right. I would not worry about the tank. They have a good size safety factor built in

My air compressor was built in the 80s I think, I just keep replacing the motor on it and keep the cylinders oiled. Tank has been fine.
