Home Depot or Lowe's?

When I was in high school, one of my after school jobs was picking up supplies for home remodels/fire resto, and lowes never seemed to have most of what I needed. It wasnt common to get everything at home depot, but it never happened at lowes. There were 4-5 lumber yards and hardware stores that I used, and I got to where I would pass a lowes to drive an extra few miles to HD.

We have both almost across the street from each other, so I've shopped both recently. My go-to is HD, but we found a better selection of fridges at lowes, and they came through with like 2 years no interest on their charge cards, so we bought there.

The store layout seems to vary for loss prevention. For instance the Balch Springs HD has a small entrance at one end of the store and the only exit is out the contractor exit on the other end of the store. I suppose to make it easier to keep an eye on only one exit, though I did watch a kid run out the entrance door with stuff under his arm one day.

Between the 2 I prefer to give my business to Lowes b/c I know (and see regularly) how HD treats their vendors - like total shit....very similar to Walmart.

With that said, the closest HD is about 10 miles from me, and ~20 for the closest Lowes.

I'm just excited that we are getting an Ace Hardware out here!

I try to give as much business as possible to the mom and pop place in town, and they do have good selection, but they can't compete with HD/lowes obv.

There's no Lowe's in Alvin, only HD.

But when we're doing finishes, fixtures, etc, we just take the trek to Lowe's

Lowes mainly because HD changed over to all self checkout a while back and that shit seems to always have trouble, especially if I am buying stuff that is age restricted like fucking duct tape. So I prefer lowes because their cashiers are real people.

Yep, 18 or over. Apparently you can burn it and inhale the fumes. It has been restricted in Texas since at least 2000 or so that I know of. I found out when I was in high school and was not allowed to buy it.

This. No loyalty at HD. We lost a line item there once that we only produced for HD. It was a metric arbor cup brush for grinder that we didn't offer and ended up getting stuck with 35K pieces. That thing's been on E&O for 5 years.
