Building materials at HD. Decorative shit like light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, etc I get at Lowe's. They're across the street from each other.

Home Depot is usually cheaper and rarely more expensive, but I generally choose proximity unless I'm going to save more than a few dollars. The customer service seems to be quite a bit better at Lowe's than Home Depot in Denton.Originally posted by BroncojohnnyHOORAY ME and FUCK YOU!

Lowe's is designed to cater more towards women.
At home Depot, I can actually exit the same door I walked in, so all the heavy home improvement stuff I'm buying doesn't have to be carried halfway across the world to get back to my truck.
The only thing Lowe's is good for is finishings and fixtures.
Again, they cater to women more, so they tend to have a better/nicer selection of that stuff.
Whereas home Depot is more manly builder grade junk.
Lowes fucking sucks though. I pretty much spit venom the entire time I'm in there. The wife really enjoys dragging me there

The Lowe's in Frisco is closer to my house, so I usually go there if it's for DIY stuff. The Home Depot in Plano just across 121 is far more helpful and hasn't once fucked up something we have ordered/had installed from them.
I have some fucking horror stories from that Lowe's in Frisco from ordering a fridge, washer/dryer, and some custom blinds, but I'm too lazy to type it out, as it would take forever to document the shitstorm we had to go through with them for that stuff.

You're buying mostly crap from either place, so "which one" doesn't matter much. I tend to go to HD more often but only because they seem to be closer or more convenient to drive to.
This hardware store is the best I have found in the metroplex. http://www.mcdonnellfeed.com/When the government pays, the government controls.
