  • Home Depot or Lowe's?

Do you have a preference for one vs the other? If so, why? Most of my feedback thus far is that nobody cares, it's whichever one is closer.

If there are any Pro accounts here with either, I'd like to hear your feedback on their Pro initiatives. Thanks!

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Lowe's has a better selection of lights, but are higher on many similar items. I used to frequent Lowe's because they hired Cool:gen folks, but I don't code in that anymore.

Otherwise, proximity is the first choice...usually.

I don't know how to edit the poll - that should say "proximity" is what matters.

If buying a big ticket item, here is what I always do. Buy gift cards from a site like cardpool.com. That will save you 8-10%. Then sign up on Lowes website that you recently moved and they will send you a coupon for 10% off. Home Depot will then honor lowes coupons. It's an easy way to save 20% off expensive purchases.

Lowes is easier to navigate. Shit is where it should be. Home Depot I have to go all over the store for one project. I think it is a sales technique to make you spend more time in the store. But, I probably shop 50/50. They are basically across the street from each other in Sherman.

Depends on what I'm getting. HD has better router bits than Lowes as well as a few other tools. But if I'm not in a rush I'd rather order or buy them at a local store. HD also has better premium wood.

Lowes has some better paints and a few other things. It's also attached to my tech shop.

Overall, I will almost always pick proximity except for very specialized tools.

I guess I really can't pick one selection in the poll because it depends what I'm getting.

Lowes, I have worked there so I know what products they carry and what to expect for prices. Home Depot does have better lumber, but I rarely need it.

I like Home Depot a little more, but that may be nostalgia. Lowes' garden section is usually better.
