  • Day Trip - Ideas for fun activities in Dallas

Hoping some Dallas experts can help me out here.

Looking for something entertaining to do for a day/2 day trip in Dallas with my wife whose not been to many big cities. Idea's I've come up with have been Top Golf, Go Karting, Studio Movie Grill. We're looking for something active or outdoorsy if possible, any ideas?

Few other ideas I can't find much on ...
    Cool shooting ranges?
    Hiking?
    Kayaking?
    Museums?
    Unique malls?

This will be a Monday/Tuesday trip so weekend only ideas are out.

    Thanks!

Any part of DFW. I'm pretty famillar with all of it and we don't mind cruising around if need be. I'm from Allen so more familiar with the northern cities though.

Top Golf is fun, go before 4 pm to get a discounted rate.
        The 6th Floor Museum
Dallas Karting Complex ($15 races on Mondays)

The Perot Museum in downtown is pretty cool, then grab some grub somewhere nice within walking distance.

I was going to suggest Frisco Gun Club, it's very nice and Pole Position indoor electric go karting is within a stones throw. There are also some nice places to eat at the Frisco Square, my favorite is NOLA. Plenty of hotels in Frisco too. There is a nice Embassy suites next to the Stonebriar mall and the Indoor Sky Diving facility is in front of the mall. Top golf of the colony is nearby as well.

I'd recommend Alamo Drafthouse over Studio Movie Grill.

In Dallas, the Perot museum and The Dallas Aquarium is cool as hell. I suggest The Woolworth for lunch or dinner. And the Kennedy stuff is all within walking distance.

                      All good ideas.

Our other idea is Fredericksburg, TX for enchanted rock, war museum, etc. Just trying to find a good place to spend 2 days of spring break, weighing all the options.

                      Thanks!

I'd second this or a movie tavern. SMG sucks! If you plan on driving the 7th St Movie Tavern is great and it's near the Fort Worth Cultural district. You could hit the Kimbell as well as the modern and the fairly new museum of science and history all in the same day and catch a movie. There is also a brand new World Of Beer a block away if you are into that.

Of course there is also Sundance Square. Pretty much anything you'd want is within walking distance.

For the outdoorsy stuff I'd head south to Austin but it's going to be a madhouse with SXSW starting up.

Hit the Perot Museum then head to the Trinity Groves area (I recommend LUCK) for badass food and local beer.
