Why are so many people hell-bent on having a green lawn? I'd rather put that time, water, money and effort into a garden or something that will produce some food out of it. Lawns just seem silly.

I don't disagree.. I do try and keep my front yard relatively green for the sake of my neighbors and the general appearance of the neighborhood.

Honestly, I would be fine living in a place like Phoenix where the vast majority of yards are rock with some local vegetation mixed in.

Here on Texoma, we've gone from 608 last summer to our 615-617 normal (hit that a couple weeks ago) to almost 627 today. At the rate it's rising they expect 635-640 (over the spill way) if we get the rain forecasted this week. Local marinas are moving everything to higher ground. I was looking forward to lake season when I winterized my boat back the end of October, I was about to pull it out and get it ready for the season. I'm hoping it's to a useable level by mid July now.

Well, I was really happy about it going up fast as I keep my Supra at Texoma at my uncle's lake house and he has his sailboat and slip at highport. It'll be interesting to see how high it goes and or stays.

It's been a long time since I lived there, but that is so sad to hear. My last house there (before moving to DFW in 2000) had St Augustine that I watered for like 15 min 3 days a week, and had to cut it twice a week sometimes, it grew so damn fast. That was in Riverside (just northwest of downtown).

Walking on it, it felt like walking on pillows.

I have some St Augustine in my front yard, that and Zoysia grass. I love zoysia, you can't kill that shit and it's as green as a fucking golf course. Requires next to no water, mow it once a month, and it spreads like wildfire.

I've never done that and have had jet skis for 5-6 years. Where do you put in at and where do you go?

Used to be you could put in anywhere on the lake and stop for fuel on the water at Lakeside Village on your way up the river. They closed a few years back and to my knowledge haven't re-opened.

Kimball bend and Plowman have ramps near the mouth of the river. Both are good ramps when the water is there. Which it damn sure is now.

When we used to do it often before the fuel stop was closed: we would ride from our cove to get fuel, and then ride until it go too shallow to go any further. Once you get past the ski camps it can get really quiet and absolute glass smooth on a non-holiday weekend. Some of my favorite memories growing up with our house down there are making river trips. Back in the heyday we used to have 10-15 PWCs and a chase deck boat with coolers, a marg machine, spare fuel, and food.

Just typing this settled it for me... I'm gonna plan a trip with some buddies now.
