  • Rebuilt Titles- Opinions - Corvette

Have a buddy who is selling his c5 Z06. He is the type of guy who just goes through cars left and right like many of us who just like change. The car is black/black 2001. I have seen pictures and it's clean.

The issue is the car was stolen and then received a branded title as it was paid out and then recovered. No history of accident.

I see nice C5 Z's going for 18-20... with most being around 20 and the occasional cars for less.

The mileage on the car is 77k and only has mild mods.

How much do you think this changes the value on the car? Every car is different but I'm considering getting into it as I have wanted a C5Z ever since I asked about them on here compared to a base c6. I know the 02's are rated higher HP but don't have the oil consumption issues if I remember correctly.

20-30% off the value, probably closer to 20% since it was a theft and not accident. $14-16K would be about right.

Not sure what financial institution is going to provide a loan on a 14 year old car with a salvage title...

Any credit Union or bofa did for me when I bought a wrecked car.

Too low. Can't even touch them at auction for that. 13k is probably the lowest you would see, if the guy was desperate.

Wasn't there a C5 Z06 on CL with light body damage and a clean title for 14K? I think it could be had for 10-11K.

                    Nevermind. It is a salvage.

Not really worth it if you can scoop something like this up:

Thanks, I certainly was thinking lower than 20%. My thoughts were close to Whiteboy opinion. Wasn't sure what they brought at auction.

I visited with him last night and he mentioned he is disputing carfax. Autocheck is clean but carfax shows an accident each time it was registered. Even when he registered it... and no accident occurred. He is someone I trust as being honest.

Salvage and rebuilt are completely different ball games when talking about financing a vehicle. My boss has a truck with a rebuilt title financed through USAA.

When I bought my C5 last summer there were tons of C5Z's for around 15k. So I say 10k to 13k sounds ok imo.

Damn. I didn't know those were they affordable. I guess the c6s really drove that price down.

                            I wonder how a stock base c6 would do against a c5z

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.
