If the BBC starts throwing money at them, they'll be able to get a good deal from somewhere else. It'll start a bidding war and they won't have to lift a finger.

My guess is that there is already a bidding war behind the scenes, hence the offer from BBC.

Well me too, I was just talking compared to popular US shows. Hell I saw a deal the other day that said the 5 or 6 people that do all the voices on the Simpsons get 400k an episode each.

May said despite Jeremy being a cock they are a team and they will only do Top Gear with all 3 of them. I do not see them straying from one another. Netflix or someone will pick them up for a bit more money than that and Jeremy will not have to watch his mouth as much. Win-win in my mind.

Clarkson, Hammond And May Confirmed For New Show

A final episode of Top Gear starring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will air June 28, marking the end of the popular British television show’s 22nd season. It will be the last time that any of the three lads host the show as none of them renewed their contracts after Clarkson was fired back in March for his altercation with producer Oisin Tymon. But they aren’t retiring just yet.

Clarkson has confirmed to The Sun (via The Sunday Times) that he together with Hammond and May would be appearing on a new show to be announced within weeks. British broadcaster ITV as well as Amazon and Netflix are believed to be bidding for the show, with the latter previously rumored to be looking at launching a new show called "House of Cars", a play on the company's smash hit House of Cards.

And May is set to appear in a second show, still with the BBC. It will be called "Building Cars Live" and will also feature Ant Anstead of British sports car brand Evanta. It will consist of two 90-minute episodes and be broadcast live from the MINI factory in the U.K.

Interestingly, both shows will air before the arrival of the new season of Top Gear, which has been confirmed to star British personality Chris Evans. Evans is currently working with the BBC to source other personalities for the new season. It’s expected to only air after March 2016.

In another twist, Clarkson in his interview with The Sun revealed that the BBC had asked him to come back to Top Gear, though the broadcaster has denied that it offered its former employee a new contract.

“I had a meeting with a BBC executive last week and they asked if I’d come back to Top Gear,” Clarkson said. “But it was never an option, even with one million people signing the Bring Back Clarkson petition–for which I was extremely humbled—too much has gone on…. how could I go back?”
