  • Disneyland or Disney World?

Disneyland or Disney World? Kids are 8 & 9 and thinking about finally pulling the trigger this year.

2 adults, 2 kids. How far will $2500 get us? I am thinking in June maybe?

Not sure if we will drive or fly, but likely drive.

    Disney world > Disney land.

The Disney all star resorts are pretty cheap to stay at. I would drive and stop at destin and stay a day or two.

I like the nostalgia of Disneyland, but Disney world is the superior park.

They have package vacations, really the only way to stretch the dollar.

World to land is the same as prime rib to Vienna sausage. I'd go a little sooner to avoid some of the heat

World- many more options-Epcot, Animal Park, Water Park...etc.

When I had kids that age I did the free time share deal for a week. You have to listen to a 2 hr spill on Saturday but I got to stay all week for free in a suite just off park grounds. Check into Marriott Vacation Club or Hilton Grand Vacation

The drive to Florida isn't too bad, especially if you stop in Destin on the way. You could also head south a bit and stop in New Orleans. Then in Gainesville you have the Garlits museum.

Don't forget about Universal Studios, Seaworld and Busch Gardens in Orlando.

Also if you have any friends or family that are military or work for the DOD you can stay at shadesofgreen for very cheap and get a hefty discount on admission.

My wife is a travel agent and she only does Disney trips. Give her an email, Michelle@lovethemousetravel.com

I went to World over Halloween last year and had a blast. If you want to ride rides Universal is the way to go, but for a "theme park" experience you'd be hard pressed to beat Disney World. I would go during a slow time, when we went we never really had to wait more than ~5m for any ride.

World for sure, but for cryin out loud, don't go in summer. We went in January a couple of years ago and it was great. Perfect weather, less crowded. Summer in Orlando is a sweaty nightmare and irs the busy season.

We spent a day in each park, and if we had it to do again, we would have spent more time in magic kingdom proper. The others were cool too, but MK was the most fun.

                          NOW he says this.

We are going beginning of May to World. I guess I also have a question on the money you need on hand. We have the tickets and the room is done. We are renting a minivan and driving.

My wife keeps telling me we should make reservations at the restaurants. Is this necessary?

We only made reservations for the Princess lunch at Epcot because they were absolutely necessary. Everything else we left flexible, which was nice. Read some good advice that if you plan every last detail to the minute, life will find a way to screw over your plans. We found that to be true. So we'd make reservations earlier in the day when we knew we'd be around wherever we were looking at for dinner, and lunch was on the fly.

I'd recommend getting out of the Disney bubble in order to get the good food in the area. All of the stuff in the bubble wasn't as good as the stuff outside of it, and it was cheaper too. We went to a seafood place that had some amazing seafood. I'll get the restaurant info for you this evening.
