Time -- out of the 7 years I would say i have maybe 6 months of solid work on the thing. (8 hour days 40 hours/week). I still dont plan to be done with this thing for another 2-3 years.

Now.. Imagine I could take it to a resto shop, I had the cash, and they said they could have it done in the 6 months that i've spent on it for $50 grand.

I'd jump all over it.. sure the truck wont be worth more than $15k, but i'd get to enjoy it RIGHT NOW, as opposed to ordering parts waiting for delivery, waiting for time to install the parts etc.

I get that it's just a jeep, but I also get that a lot of people just want what they want, and they're gonna get what they get. The dealership is just a service provider.
Some truth in that. However the build could have also been done for quite quite a bit less but as someone else pointed out... If u have $160k to spend on a jeep... do you really care? Honestly it's not the shops fault the owner didn't look at other options. If the shop is reputable it's no diff than other restoration shops... people pay big money on it. I just don't get it because a dollar means a lot more to me.

Also you have to factor in getting shit done right. Anyone will take your money, few will do the shit correctly. And that kind of work is expensive.

But not anywhere near that expensive. And honestly, there is duplicate shit on there that doesn't make sense.

There aren't many other shops, especially local, that do these types of builds regularly. Would I ever spend that much on a jeep? Only if I won the lottery, and they would be the guys building it.

Certainly a factor. And they have Jeeps already completed, and in stock, which is not as common. Most places that do the high dollar custom builds want money up front and then take 6 months plus to complete. So you're stuck waiting and hoping they don't take your money and never complete your ride.

I do agree that they are ridiculously overpriced, but obviously they are selling, and the customers that have that kind of money to spend should be smart enough to know they are paying a premium, so it's whatever.

I've always wanted to build a jeep FC out of a JK like the jeep prototype.

There are a lot of people in this world with a lot of money. And a lot of them will waste it on all kinds of dumb shit, especially if it happens to be that one thing they want.

Yep.. And no reason to hate on the people ready and willing to take some of that money!

Can someone explain how this Jeep has both the Amp power steps and the Rock Slider power running boards installed?

And let's say that hypothetically you could have both, there's over $1400 in labor costs (if you subtract retail out of the prices above) when a professional should be able to install either in about two hours.

                        I mean, come on.

Edit: And Smittybilt side steps? WTF? Can we get pics?

it really all goes back to the Foxbody + $5k argument.

That guy coulda bought a unimog that would do everything that jeep will do and then some.. but he could also buy a 88 suburban throw portals and 40s under it with a cummins swap and have $100,000 to have a coronary due to cocaine.

I have a friend that worked at Regency...or whatever their new name is. They would put $5000 worth of parts on there, sell it to the dealerships between $12-20k, and then the dealer would mark up by $10k. All because it had a warranty. You could damn near pay for anything/everything on the truck in cash for the additional $30k.
