i'm the butt of many jokes because i have been working on a 63 c10 since ~2008. I have spent probably $10k over the years in parts. (some made it on the truck some didnt). Time -- out of the 7 years I would say i have maybe 6 months of solid work on the thing. (8 hour days 40 hours/week). I still dont plan to be done with this thing for another 2-3 years.
Now.. Imagine I could take it to a resto shop, I had the cash, and they said they could have it done in the 6 months that i've spent on it for $50 grand.
I'd jump all over it.. sure the truck wont be worth more than $15k, but i'd get to enjoy it RIGHT NOW, as opposed to ordering parts waiting for delivery, waiting for time to install the parts etc.
I get that it's just a jeep, but I also get that a lot of people just want what they want, and they're gonna get what they get. The dealership is just a service provider.

Also you have to factor in getting shit done right. Anyone will take your money, few will do the shit correctly. And that kind of work is expensive."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

I do agree that they are ridiculously overpriced, but obviously they are selling, and the customers that have that kind of money to spend should be smart enough to know they are paying a premium, so it's whatever.

I've always wanted to build a jeep FC out of a JK like the jeep prototype."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

There are a lot of people in this world with a lot of money. And a lot of them will waste it on all kinds of dumb shit, especially if it happens to be that one thing they want.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

Can someone explain how this Jeep has both the Amp power steps and the Rock Slider power running boards installed?
And let's say that hypothetically you could have both, there's over $1400 in labor costs (if you subtract retail out of the prices above) when a professional should be able to install either in about two hours.
I mean, come on.
Edit: And Smittybilt side steps? WTF? Can we get pics?Last edited by jluv; 03-06-2015, 10:03 PM.

it really all goes back to the Foxbody + $5k argument.
That guy coulda bought a unimog that would do everything that jeep will do and then some.. but he could also buy a 88 suburban throw portals and 40s under it with a cummins swap and have $100,000 to have a coronary due to cocaine.

Anyone get me a link to that white $200k ish jeep posted a few days ago? Trying to show a buddyOriginally posted by davbrucasI want to like Slow99 since people I know say he's a good guy, but just about everything he posts is condescending and passive aggressive.
Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.
