  • Dr. Scholls custom fit

Have any of you guys stood on one of them things they have at most walmarts? The thing that is supposed to show you where all the pressure is on your feet and prescribes you a custom fit orthotic? I work 12's and stand for most of that time. After the 5th hour, my feet hurt bad! I want to buy a custom fit but they're freaking expensive and I don't want to by another orthotic that doesn't work.

They are "custom fit" only in the sense that the machine directs you to an insert already on the shelf. That being said I have a set that works reasonably well.

Living with chronic pain is a motherfucker. Buy comfortable shoes, they're worth it.

You can actually go to a podiatrist and have custom orthotics made. I had to do that when I was having problems with my back, and it helped a lot.

I have had good luck with the Superfeet inserts. I had a running store fit me for a set and just keep buying in that size. They are $30-40 but last a year or more.

I went to a Red Wing store and bought some when I was working on the rigs. They weren't dr schols, but they had the pressure measuring pad there and it was well worth the $70 I spent on them. It was entertaining, the guy behind the counter, after I told him I was standing for 12-14 hours a day, said that standing that LJT is bad for you, I told him it was part of the job.

Check out Sof Soles. They carry them at Sports Authority. They also have the same board to check your arch and you are not barefoot in Walmart.....

I've used the "custom fit" machine and have that insert and the "normal" insert from Dr. Schol's. They work well enough for me, though I'm not standing a constant 12 hours.
