Had sort of the same thing happen to me during the last snowpocolypse. Person was doing something stupid in front of me on a bridge. I slowed my roll because I didn't want to hit him, did not care about the Honda Accord behind me.

Got hit pretty hard, but I don't care, it's their fault for rear ending me. Mashed his front end up really good. Got something like $300 for a new bumper and just deposited it. Those plastic Cavalier bumpers can take a beating!

Not sure why you would choose damaging your own vehicle (and thus having to pay for it) vs getting someone else to pay for it due to them following too closely.

Even though I lived and drove in much worse that this, I avoid driving in crap like that as much as possible. Generally, Texas drivers can't hack it. If I have to go out in that mess, I stay the hell away from everyone else.

Yup, it is what it is -

Keep a huge buffer in front you, slow down if people are beside until they get past and if you have someone too close to your rear - slow down until they go around.

In my opinion, the buffer space is more important than your actual speed on slippery roads.

Probably it, right around the area I was when it happened.

I forced a guy off the road once. I didn't even know I had done it until I looked in the rearview mirror and saw his el camino throwing up dust, off in the grass. I just kept driving.
