Snow Days/Bad Weather Days - Tipping Delivery

Not delivery but I did go out to a small "hole in the wall" restaurant today that me and my woman love. We were the only people in there for an hour and they were all excited as we must have been the only customer today or something. I felt pretty terrible and I don't want to see the place go down. We had a great meal as usual so I tipped $25 on a $25 tab.

i've never worked in any kind of retail or deliver job, but I can't imagine how much it sucks to be them on these days. Just think, one stupid uninsured fuck hits you, and now you're out of the job, out of money, and out of a car. I try to tip above and beyond just to calm what must be some shitty nerves.

I've always given delivery drivers at least $5.00 and valets the same.

Yeah that makes sense, but the idea is that on valet, you are likely using valet because you don't want to go out in the crappy weather yourself.

I'll disagree with this. I only valet when forced due to lack of parking and unfortunately that is becoming more frequent at many establishments. I try to just stay the fuck away from places that force you to valet, but it is difficult at times. If I'm forced to valet, I tip $5 period. I'm not going to tip more based on rain or shitty weather when I'm not allowed to park my own car.


I will tip delivery drivers more for driving in it though.

I think I've used delivery only once in the last five years. It was crap weather, he got here fast and my pizza was piping hot. $50 tip, just to blow his mind..

I can't get delivery all the time. I'd be broke just because I want to see the look on their face when someone doesn't treat them like crap.
