That's not what the op was about. I didn't know p-to-w ratio defined a car. To me its about everything, styling, mpgs, maintenance costs, ease and cost of routine maintenance, insurance, cost of vehicle, etc. If the Golf is your thing, well have at it.

with the exception of the opinion of styling, the gti is a better buy than the ecoboost in that scenario.

Don't get the wrong idea, I still prefer the ecoboost stang, but that's only because i desire rwd and the styling. I'd be a fool to deny that the gti is a better buy though, since 99% will just be daily driving, and the gti would be better optioned/equipped for the same price, while getting better mpg.

Well, Ive owned 3 vw's in the past few years. ALL of them were better than any Mustang Ive owned. The last GTI went 36 thousand miles on the stock REAR tires, changed the fronts one time... didnt pay for oil changes, service, or shit during the warranty period because it was all included with the car...

so, we spent 250 bucks for tires, 200 bucks for window tint, and gas (and it averaged about 28-30 mpg)... Id say it was a pretty reliable, nice car. It was almost as fast as my dad's old Porsche which runs mid 13s, and we didnt ever get around to tuning it... It had better seats than a mustang, a better factory stereo than the mustang, and imo looked better than a Mustang. Ford has been dead to me since 1996, so anything you say on their behalf wont mean a thing to me. If you havent driven a vw since 1985, they are slightly better now, even though the mustang isn't. lol
