        a tuned gti is faster than a tuned EB mustang, and about 10 grand cheaper, AND gets much better mpg, AND looks better, AND has a larger back seat, AND has rear doors...

        the EB mustang is the middle of the line Mustang
        the GTI is the middle of the line Golf

        so there, the comparisons are made, equally.

        bottom line, Ford is on the crack pipe. They need to be at 25-29k loaded to make their pos car worth while.

                Isn't a EB stang only 26k starting. Maybe you were meaning a loaded out EBis 10k more. They also have gone sub 14 stock and go 12s with a tune and a tire. In fact livernois has gone 12.6x with just a tune disproving your theory on faster car's with just a tune. I think it's a fair comparison for the two. Yes they are different classes but have many similarities. Looks are subjective but I think the performance can be debated until blue in the face.

                  theyve gone 12s on stock tires? not that i could find... anything is faster on a drag radial... plus the golf traps 110, whats the mustang trap, 103? lmao thats a murder on the street, and since I dont track race my daily driver, thats all id care about.

                  cant debate that the mustang is SLOWER in the quarter mile... its only barely quicker because its rwd on drag radials. the gti ran a 13.1 with a 5.8 0-60 because it was frying tires... lol thats impressive as hell that it even ran 13s with that slow of a 0-60 time.

                  i dont know if they do start at 26k, only ones for sale anyone has seen have been mid to high 30s...

                  anyway, its highly unlikely that I buy either car, just stating that the Mustang is over priced imo and not as good of a car as the GTI is.

                    Livernois went 12.69 on factory 20s and 12.2x with tune and tire if I remember correctly.

                    Edit: I always fail at embedding youtube but there is the vid I was referencing. In your words that's murder on the street w/ stock tire v stock tire from a dig...which how men race Half second is BUS LENGTHS. Now you are throwing the FWD into the mix as a hindrance but that's not the mustang's issue that the GTI is wrong wheel drive. If we are going to compare them based on performance then you have to leave that aspect out...

                    I personally like the GTI looks a lot and if it performs like you are saying then it's a GREAT buy.

                        I have noticed they sandbag their dyno numbers on baseline tunes but not as much on the real world times. Of course they are on a track that is prepped better than any we ever see so that probably plays into it as well. There is always a chance they are lying about additional mods as well... no reason they wouldn't to try and boost sales.

                        There are actually other tuners reporting the same times such as JLP w/ tune only on factory tires... may be more legit, but I don't know because I don't own one.

                          Are we really debating a fucking golf vs Stang, It's a fucking GOLF! That POS is a wind tunnel test away from a Metro Geo! Lower it all you want, stuff some 20 inch ARE's on that bitch and bottom line is it is still a fucking Golf, for fucks sake!

                                I like what VAG is doing nowadays, but I would never buy any of their cars. I just don't trust their reliability. YMMV.
