What type of extension? What type of wrench?

A straight extension will have a negligible impact. Anything that increases the lateral distance from the torque wrench head center to the bolt head center (eg. a crow's foot) will definitely affect readings.

There are some formulas to use depending on what type of adapter and extension you're using:

You don't need a belt, you need a hemi!

Pulley was probably bad, I bet that guy with the engine cover has a factory pulley for you
Just don't let him trick you into taking off your belt.

Unless it's a really short extension, there is going to be some torque loss. Though, probably nothing appreciable in your case. Are the factory pulleys steel or plastic like the dayco?

Pics of pulley? Missing a spacer or a washer or something? Does it freespin after torquing, what kind of torque wrench, extension doesn't matter for the most part.

They don't have washers, just a bolt with one hell of a shoulder

the original did not have the washers, the replacement did. its burned through one replacement with front and rear "washers" installed and is currently melting the second replacement i installed with the washer to see if it made a difference. Obv. not. im hoping it will get me home from lunch so i can tear into it yet once again

                      god bless.

There is a bearing in the middle of the pulley but no washers. Here are both factory idlers and bolts

If its a clicker torque wrench it should be unscrewed and turned down as low as it will go every time you're done using it. If it has sat stored for a long period without being turned down, it will be out of calibration.

I learned that lesson the hard way years ago with a Snap-On inch pound torque wrench.

The bearing inner race should be the only thing touching the bolt/bracket, are there signs of anything else touching?
