Unchained dog chasing me

I run and ride my bike in me neighborhood. For the last 3 times when I was chased by a pitbull out of the same yard. The obvious, and most non-confrontational thing would be to simple run a different route. But, how my neighborhood is set up, it's difficult to avoid this T intersection. To get any sort of distance I'd have to run around the same two blocks over and over.

On the first instance, the dog saw me and left his yard at a full sprint and crossed to the other side of the street where I was. A car came screaming up on the dog and laid on their horn and scared the dog off.
The second time, He didnt notice me until I was mostly passed his yard and he chased but I sprinted my ass off. That time I went home and called animal control. That's not something I would usually do, but what if a young child or elderly lady was to pass the yard? Today, 2 weeks later the same thing happened, although this time I was on my bike and was able to ride faster than he could run. I called animal control this today, but it's sunday and they're not working.

So, what would DFWM do? If two calls to animal control doesnt do anything, what are my options? I could run with a baseball bat, but I'd look like an idiot. I could run with mace, but that could be ineffective. I could simple never pass by that house, but I shouldnt have to change my route because a dog owner doesnt control their dog. My final, and worst option would be to shoot the damn dog next time it chases me in the street. I'd rather avoid doing that.

I ran in my neighborhood for over a year and had numerous dogs come out on me, most were friendly, a couple would actually run the entire time with me. One day I decided to make a quick one mile lap so I did not carry anything with me. In the last quarter mile I saw a pit mix come running out of the field. By the time it hit the street I could tell it was not friendly. Fucker stood at me growling showing its teeth so I stood over it and yelled at it to get the fuck out of there, always heard stand your ground and dominance. Dickhead tried to bite my hand. Looked around for the owners, nothing. Slowly backed up from it, it would try to bite me each time I backed up. Finally made it to where they were pouring a drive way and picked up a 2x4. Held it up and bastard turned and just walked off like he knew he did not want a taste of that. I bought some mace that day. Running the next day and again, I see the fucker coming up the street. Sprayed it right in the face, he yelped and ran off the other direction.
I do a lot of my running in the country on back dirt roads so I no longer leave the house without my LCP and a can of mace. Don't want to kill someones pet, but if that fucker tries to attack me I will straight shoot it in the face!

They need to keep the dog contained. It would be a favor to them, to avoid it being shot or kicked or hit by a car. If they don't contain it after that, do what you have to do. The dog is just being a dog. The owners are being dog dicks.

I like this idea. Give the owners a chance to rectify the situation once, they may not know their mutt is getting out. If they don't fix the problem, it's time to handle up.

I carry HALT spray it is for dogs, I also carry Hornet spray when I am working in the Hood. for Dogs and Hood rats. The hornet spray has a much longer reach then and it will make them stop real fast.

thats what you need. it'll fuck anything it hits up. if you use it on a person though dont do it too close cause it'll cause permanent damage..
