How old is this story really?

Edit: That shit happened last night...

Yep, that's why the thread title says "just now" and was posted last night.

Wasn't implying anything, but thanks for jumping to conclusions.

I love how everyone just keeps driving past the taxi that just got hit by a plane!

Just from the video, it looks like he lost the left engine, did not control the lateral yaw of the aircraft and classic VMC near the ground. (loss of lift on the left wing)

                    Vmc
                    Defining Vmc
The good engine is developing full power.
The aircraft is at its most rearward Centre of Gravity.
The bad engine is at idle and has not been feathered.
The engine that has failed is the Critical Engine.
The aircraft is at maximum takeoff weight.
                    The gear has been retracted.
The flaps are in the takeoff position.
The aircraft is airborne without the benefit of ground effect.
                    The Vmc Spin

That's the reply I was looking for, after seeing that video I thought the same thing regarding that left engine. By the way, what's the proper reaction to that happening after said pilot shits his pants?

Once he was below VMC that close to the ground....he was fucked. No recovery, because what is needed is to re-attach laminar airflow over the stalled wing. To do this the nose has to be lowered to gain airspeed, as you see he was just too low to the ground to do this.

His instinctive reaction was pull the nose UP and try and fly away from the ground.........impossible with the left wing stalled. Spin ensued.

Where the Aircraft was lost was in the moments right after the engine had loss of power. I do not know if it was on the runway or airborne. Also the buildings played a factor as well it looked like.
Every runway we at AA use has obstacle clearance built in to our TPS(take off performance data). This is a balance of aircraft gross weight/OAT/engine EPR settings and obstacle clearance from the departing runway on single engine(worst case scenario) In other words-------every take off we do is planned for an engine out and clearing buildings like this. All this data combined is our maximum take off weight for THE specific runway used. Change runways------new take off data is needed. Who knows if these folks even practice the level of safety we have to here in the US.

No one stopped? A plane crashes literally right in front of you and you just keep going?

I'm sorry something that severe I would have stopped the car and jumped into the river to try to help as many people as possible.

would you just jump from the bridge and swim over to the plane?

I didn't even see that you said yes that is what you would do.

                              That's retarded.

This is what I said. I was like holy shit in the good ole USA that would bring every car on the highway to a standstill. Not sure anyone would help, but you never know. If there was anything floating and it appeared I could help, I would be in the water. I am actually a very good swimmer. I can't imagine just filming, or driving on by.
