Please, DDT isn't half as dangerous as the shit we already use. The main reason it was banned was because of a book published by some tree hugging bitch that thought it was killing off the bald eagle and peregrine falcon populations.
The research into human toxicity is slim as shit, there are very few actual studies on the cancer causing properties. 90% of the chemicals in my freaking garage are more toxic than DDT. On the other hand, the malaria rates drop by a very significant amount when it's used.
IMO, follow the money and you will find the reason. How many illnesses do mosquitoes carry? And how much money goes into the treatment of these illnesses?

I'm for giving this a go but the critics are right that they are underplaying the risks. How do you prevent genetic mutation which is part of the basic reproduction system of any living animal, insect, or bacterium. It is that capacity for mutation that creates an undefinable risk.
Again, I'm not sayin' they shouldn't do it. Just properly define the risks and address it..
