Seriously, I can't imagine that many people willing to spend an average of $38 for a game that doesn't exist yet, and the fact that it has happen so freaking fast. $1.1 million raise and they just started today. It blows my mind.
People have spent more than that on less through kickstarter.
StarCitizen as a $15k package you can donate for their game, and it's not due out until some time in 2016. You can't pay through kickstarter for it anymore, they are taking payments directly from their website.

    Here are their "pledge" packages.
Roberts Space Industries is the official go-to website for all news about Star Citizen and Squadron 42. It also hosts the online store for game items and merch, as well as all the community tools used by our fans.

So does "pledge" = paid? I can see a lot of people just running the total with no intention of coughing up the cash

When a "goal" is reached, payment is then secured from pledges.

I don't know what they do to go after those who pledge and don't pay.

What's great, is getting money from Kickstarter...the user doesn't necessarily have to give you anything in return. Just come up with a "great" idea, get the donations, then pack up the tent.

This is disappointing. I expected them to be some sort of disposable target.

And it broke the Kickstarter record, over $4.7 million and a few weeks to go.
