  • MPG's WAY Down !

    Truck : 2014 GMC Sierra - 5.3

When i first bought this bad boy, my average was 17.8 city - Highway was 22 avg
NOW , that gas prices are super low, my average is 13.6 city -

Im guessing lower prices, crappier fuel.... Is it a diversion ? What are we missing.

I know wintergrade has something to do with it, but not 4 mpg

I've got the same truck. I haven't noticed much of a change in my mpg's.

replace your Air filter, change your plugs. Reset the computer to relearn its map.

However the easiest is to get your gas from somewhere else. - see if your supply is shit

Cheaper gas, heavier right foot=shittier mileage. At least this is my case.

I recall being able to get 37-40 mpg in my accord when just cruising at 60-65. Now it seems like I'm lucky to see 34-35. I'm averaging 30mpg now, when it used to be 33-35.

It's a minor decrease, but I'm also not sure if it is my car, gas or something else. I use cruise control to eliminate my error/variables - but it's difficult to be 100% sure since traffic screws it all up. Still, on a fresh tank (recently had filters changed...etc...etc) it seems like it is less overall.

Winter fuel mix to will give you less MPG. Bad O2 sensor can do something similar but you'd prob get a CEL and notice poor performance.

                          2015 Sierra w/5.3.

My mileage dropped with the temperature. On the days it's been below freezing, I've lost 2-3mpg. When the temp has come up, it's been back up to normal.

I've noticed a big difference since the price drop as well back in October I could go to Ranger and back and use just under 1/2 a tank now it's taking almost 3/4 of a tank. That's when I was hualing all kinds of building materials, feeders, ect. Now I don't hardly take anything other than clothes, sleeping bag, guns, and ice chests.
