Software engineer, or at least I used to be, and now I manage a team of them. I have a background in Aerospace Engineering and manufacturing, and worked in a parts store for years, paying my way thru college. The parts store gigs help as well, and is what accidentally got me into this job. I work for one of the largest software companies in the world, and get to see F35s being built whenever I want to walk down to that end of the plant, on the days I drive in. I also get to work remote about half the time, which is nice.

Bonuses that are larger than many people's salary are nice...until I see what other people's commission was where I did all the work and they get all the cash, a chance to win a Tesla S, and a paid week in Oahu or the Caribbean. Fuck, I hate sales guys. Thinking of this, I'd go for software sales.

I honestly don't know. I'm a couple of years removed from recruiting ER docs.

Been a while, but when I was recruiting them, it was specifically for temp jobs. They'd make $150-180-ish per hour. I'm sure it's more now. So, I think your estimate is probably low.

As for the Midwest, there is definitely a shortage of doctors. Or, a worse shortage than the rest of the country, I should say. So yes, most of the jobs tend to pay higher there than your more popular locations. Even in Ohio, Columbus pays a good bit more than Cincinnati, so it just depends.

Not even close. A cable guy is limited to using a basic set of skills on a daily basis. I on the other hand do things that require more of a specialized skill set that requires specific training. You get a job as a cable guy and you're going to be able to work with nearly any cable company. You get a job as an a/v guy and you could work at 2 different companies doing totally different things within the same realm.

Running audio, video, and network cable.
Terminating audio, video, and network connections.
    Building audio/video racks.
Mounting audio speakers, microphones, projectors, screens, video cameras, and video displays.

Configuring and programming equipment like touch panels, room controllers, VoIP systems, video codecs, control processors, video processors, and audio processors.

Electrical & lighting design. Riding mountain bikes and drinking beer doesn't pay shit so I had to get a big boy job.

I would like to just get drunk and vlog test bikes and trails.

not that i followed this, but i have always heard it said to find out how to get paid to do what interests you or what you love.

fuck that. if you love it. keep it to yourself. people fuck it all up for you the minute you turn it in to your way to earn a living.

what ever you decide, you just have to get the ratio right to where you make enough money so you believe it is worth it to come back tomorrow.
