Ahh, I assumed you were local. I was going to say there is a good chance I know you if you were local.

if youre looking to learn a trade, check out texas state technical college. bunch of stuff. everything from certificate programs to 2 year assoc degrees.

after finishing a A.S at navarro (pretty worthless) i decided i'd rather learn a skilled trade in a strong market (avionics technology) then finish my bachelors later on in a study that will benifit my trade.
I don't clean pools, that doesn't pay well at all. Screw cleaning pools

Pay was great, upper management are complete ass holes you will be promoted solely based on whether your boss likes you or not, that's it. You manage 40 people who all need money but will call out the next day for work and decline to pick up Any extra shifts, but then give you a sob story about they can't pay rent when they have a new iPhone 6 the next monday. Use to drive me bonkers...... All of the friggin cashiers are 60yr old women giving you their life story about how they are about to be evicted but constantly call out for shifts and always have cigarette money

I now manage an autoparts store. I work 55 hours a week and I love what I do and I get great pride in helping people. Essentially my own boss with a handful of employees and I really enjoy teaching employees to be my little robots of automotive knowledge
Sir You are preaching to the choir. How about the new employees who say
"I can work any hours" then a month later they want to write their own schedule. Just do what I do. Hire people starting part-time. If they piss you off cut his/her hours! One day a week 4 hour shift. When they look at the schedule and ask you why did you only give them four hours. You tell em that you hired em for flexibility.

And the ones I hate the most are the people who like to call in on a regular basses. And always want to go home early. But never ever! Want to stay a lil longer to help out.

I can go on and on. Lol

I started my own mobile mechanic business about 5 months ago. Been working on heavy equipment ever since. Business is taking off better then I expected. Now I have too much work and not enough time.

Now especially with the Dallas County bag ordinance in effect. I see worthless pieces of shit getting for $500 worth of groceries for free "EBT" bitching about a couple dollars for bags. About 50% of them do not buy the bags. Instead they'll take whole shopping carts. sometimes two and three loose just like that out the door. Fucking heathens.
    Work at costcos problem solved.

    To answer the question:

    1. Technical sales leader in the oil and gas industry.
I parlayed my engineering experience, people / communication / technical writing skills, contacts, etc in to a leadership position at an oil and gas packaging facility.

    2. Co-owner of a wedding/event planning company.
I handle the behind-the-scenes stuff relating to accounting, HR with our contractors, lawyers, LLC & sales tax/use things w/ the state of TX, etc, etc. I've also put in a lot of work with vendors and other crap to make things like this happen and generally help keep our front line people equipped to do their thing well.

    And now to give advice:

Don't look at oil and gas right now.
Dude, you have talent... and a lot of it. When you say you have thought about going back to school are you thinking 2 year, 4 year, trade school, etc? Outside of cars, what do you do for fun? What do you enjoy?
I'm not saying try to turn a hobby into a job, but that could drive some direction. Outside of your mechanical inclination what do you think your other top strengths are?
