You mentioned a commission, which leads me to believe that you're in sales, which the BEST place to be at any company in terms of earning potential, outside of the acronym titles. Don't let one bad situation with your current company deter you from building on the experience and tenure that you already have, starting from scratch in a new field will be a much longer row to hoe. Take this as a learning experience about "the game," and build on it. You don't have to be the shady one to succeed, you just need to learn to protect your client base and most importantly to be sure that you get the credit where credit is due.

A sale is a sale regardless of the name at the top of your business card, take your expertise to a competitor, similar industry, or to a place that has an offering that you can get behind, and sell the shit out of.

I (sometimes) fix/rebuild the shit Halliburton blows up! 90% of the time I build gas compression engines.

Which location? A guy I worked with just went to them a few months ago, seems to love it.

I hate gas compression. It has to be the most boring part of upstream O&G. 99% uptime is great... but it's boring as hell, and they all look and operate the exact same. Blah.
