If the corporate office is based out of a state that requires the employer to pay for PTO, then you can get it. Even if working in Texas for a satellite office.

          However, that's all moot now.
Good job on seeing an opportunity and building some solid support under that bridge.

Corporate office is based in Italy! That means if you make too much noise..... well...... they already didn't want me to leave the family - and see, now they've pulled me back in!

Yeah that's still pretty wicked. Currently only get 120 a year of PTO (prior life was 160) and use or lose. Prior life was 80 hours carry over - typically just for the purpose of not using too much at once...etc..etc.

I did have a gig where you could cash out PTO yearly, that was neat.

I'd love to be able to cash out, I'm sitting on over 300 hours, but won't see a dime until I move on. Will make for a nice little bonus when I do though.

It's awesome hearing your story of redemption Chris, and you've handled your previous employer in as respectful and gracious manner as possible.

And the end result is I left on excellent terms, and now they are more than happy to pay me a very good day rate to go out and take care of jobs for them on a contract basis. & I still have my oil rig job. I just don't have to go to my next hitch until April the 16th. so really I got no complaints!
Does your current employer know about these contract deals?

No. But I asked one of my coworkers and he told me they could care less. I read my handbook and so long as it's not a competitor there's no non compete issues.

And.... Don't rain on my picnic![emoji3]
