LT Tires (again)

Brent, just a thought. I used to run 2 sets of tires on my T100 when I still had it. I had a set of Uniroyal M/T's for winter and most of spring for maximum traction. They were mounted on some cheap, stock rims that a buddy of mine gave me as a throwaway from a tire shop. The rest of the year (dry season) I ran an AT tire for some traction if I needed it but a smoother ride and quieter for sure.
Would it work for you just to mount two rougher terrain tires to use when you drive up and spend time on the farm? You can then just change the whole wheel and tire together. Just a thought.

What kind of truck....is this a 1/2 or 3/4 ton?
Ironically I've been doing some early shopping for the next set on my F150 FX4 as well, and I'm in a similar boat as you....I'm wanting something a little more aggressive for off road, but also not something that will kill my hwy driving. I do about 80% hwy in my truck, and I put 20K on it last year...it makes a lot of distance drives, but I also go out to a friends place once or twice a month that is accessed similarly to what you described above. I guess I kind of want it all!....looks good, drives good (and quiet) on the road, and also good traction off the road.
If you haven't looked at them yet, check out the Toyo Open Country ATII - http://www.treaddepot.com/group/opat2.html
From what I've read these are really good all around tires. They aren't the cheapest, but also not as pricey as Michelins either. They've got some really good reviews online.70' Chevelle RagTop

Looking at the Open Country's now. Those look aggressive enough. Though they don't offer the exact size. I guess I need to find out what will fit without rubbing and what won't.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

I'm on my 4-5th set of Nitto TGs. Had some Toyo M/Ts sprinkled in here and there when I had myself convinced I needed an MT on my daily driver.
Last few years I've been averaging about 30k a year and my truck is 4x and sees dirt often. I love the nitto TGs and will get another set this spring. They might be louder as the wear but i've never noticed. My last few trucks have been relatively loud anywho.
My .02
Edit: I think I get about 45-50k out of a set but they get abused and they aren't completely bald when I pull them off.

Since that time I've taken notice....it seems like I see a lot of Nitto's on diesel trucks (they are cheap for a good looking tire), and also a lot that look pretty worn or uneven - with the exception of the Duragrappler...which seems to be much more durable than the Terra. I know it sounds crazy, but if you pay attention when you see them in parking lots and such, you'll probably notice the same.70' Chevelle RagTop
