'62 Tbird, neat car. Shitty mileage and a broken gas gauge is a recipe for disaster. Junky Ford went for more than 300k miles.

Technically my 66 Mustang but we were still restoring it when I got my license so I drove my GP's old 82 S-10 he gave me. I dropped it and started cleaning it up before I T boned a stop sign runner.

My dad paid $1K for a 1978 Jeep CJ5 that was mine from age 14-16. Shortly after I had my license I got a 1986 VW GTI 16V. Both of them were POS, but I ragged the hell out of both of them so it didn't really matter.

              1964 Chevy short bed step-side.

              290 straight six
              Clifford intake
              Holley 4 barrel
              Headers
              3 speed auto
'87 Buick front end (disc brakes, power steering)

It was my buddy's, and he had done some of the work. I bought it from him before we moved to Arkansas my junior year. The following summer, a jackass t-boned me and totaled the cab. I tore the entire truck down to the chassis, sand blasted everything, ran new lines, and painted it. I located a cab nearby, towed the rolling chassis over, and put the cab on. Once back, the real work began. The "new" cab was from a '61. This created all kinds of problems, the biggest being that the wiring harnesses were incompatible with each other. Between school, football, and chasing tail it would be after Christmas before I fired it up again. The bodywork and paint were done by spring break, and I drove it back to Texas after graduating.

I sold it later, got a new car, and I've regretted it ever since. I cut my teeth on that truck. I worked at Chief Auto Parts to fund it (largely with my discount) and did ALL of the work...including the paint and body....myself.

1989 Ford Ranger 2.3/M5... looked like this but with a nasty-ass white camper top that got taller as it went back.

Sold it and bought a 1968 Mustang Fastback 302/M4 that I sorta restored and my DUMB-ASS sold. I got it for $2500 in 1998, and sold it for $9500 in 1999.
