Wimberley area SW of Austin/San Marcos would fit the bill for your buddies. There are several breweries in the area to do a tour or just chill in the hill country.

Plenty of B and B's in the area plus full on cabins with land and own heated pool...etc

I just got back from the cliffs at PK lake. It was pretty nice out. Almost no one there to bother or be bothered by.

We've had a small family GTG here and really liked the place. Not a ton to do but hang out, fish, BBQ and drink while out in the woods.

Nice place and they (at the time) had golf cars you could rent and tour the ranch. LOTS of acres to cruise around.
