I don't watch any of those channels. I have the u300 bundle with five boxes. I watch more cartoons and food shows than anything. We're also starting to watch more basic stuff like abc and fox.

As soon as they offer Showtime as a stand-alone subscription, not piggy-backed on a service providers plan, I'll drop everything but internet.

We don't watch much TV at all. We used to have Uverse and I would DVR all those car shows on Discovery/History/etc but I don't miss them now.

Netflix sucks for movies. It seems to be okay for TV series if you don't mind watching last year's shows. But we're realizing we just don't have time to sit through eight seasons of 16 episodes of 20 different series. Honestly I don't see how anyone wastes that much time watching TV. We'll probably drop Netflix soon.

We tried Amazon and it sucked balls for content. But like you said, it's basically free if we shop more with Amazon so maybe I'll break down and get it.

As for sports, I can't catch every game anyway and there is enough content over the air to keep me occupied.

What we're tripping out on is how much cool shit is being broadcast over the air these days. Cozi, MeTV, etc have great old shows that are more fun to watch than almost anything on cable.

I got fed up with AT&T's "expiring discounts" that jacked my rates back up a couple times every year, and having to talk to some idiot on the phone about leaving just to get it back to a price I would pay. Now there's no stress and I save about $100/mo so I'm happy.

I had netflix years ago and their content was just crap. I think that was when they raised their price but at the same time cut content. I pulled the eject handle then.

Amazon is OK, for any current season of a show (like Dr Who) you have to buy the episode ($2) or the season ($30). If its a show you are a rabid fan of its not that bad, but if you are a filthy casual like me I just find something else to watch. PBS has a free channel, so M gets all her Downton Abbey shows the next day in case she misses it on the OTA antenna.

With a little forethought on the wiring and a decent network design, every room has a Roku and an HD antenna connection so any room is workable. I was paying up to $40/mth to Verizon to just have two HD capable control boxes in the house before on top of the programming charge.

The big suck part is having so many different connections and having to switch inputs all the time to change around. That has been minimized as we just don't camp out - we know what we want to watch pretty much in advance so we're not scanning channels looking for something/anything to watch for the next 30 min.

Before switching to my current model, I was at about 160-180/mth. Now I'm barely over $60 and have tons more options. The trade off is it isn't just a single box/remote "click n go".

I'm looking at the Sling thingamajigger also. What do ya'll think of Roku? I'll probably get the Amazon Fire deal they have, not seeing any benefit of Roku at this time.

For Sling, I like ESPN for MNF, and TNT and AMC for the shows they have occasionally. Shit, I may need to get some type of DVR to record crap!

Probably, I have not staretd to look into one yet.

I did find out I can cancel DirecTv for $60, since my 2 year plan is almost up (June 15th)! I'm just going to finish watching what I have on that DVR, like all the Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, etc. I usually let them build up and watch the entire series one after the other.

I watch a lot of local channels surprisingly. Jimmy Fallon is a favorite for me and my wife, we watch the first 48 on A&E, I can't get enough wheeler dealers and chasing classic cars and I fall asleep watching nick at night

                              So my tv usage:
NBC morning news and nightly news
Tbs for big bang theory to unwind from work
Velocity when the wife is not around
                              A&E
                              Cartoon network
                              Nickelodeon

Most cable channels should just operate on a stand alone basis. I would pay $5 a month per channel, for a channel of my choice.

I ditched cable because it kept going up and up and up, although I did keep high speed internet (my apartment complex can only get time warner). For the first few weeks after it was gone I missed it from time to time but you adjust to not having it. Now I don't waste hours sitting on the couch fast forwarding through commercials, and I dig saving over $100 a month vs what I was spending before. I might be persuaded to get a roku box if anyone can tell me they if are worth the money (?)
