Epic Moments In Your Life...

Stepping off a plane into nothing, with the ground 800 feet below me. I will never forget that shit.

LATE on August 8, 2003 as I was getting herded like a piece of meat onto some yellow footprints at MCRD San Diego, that was probably my first truly Epic moment in life...followed shortly after by the thought of "What the fuck have I gotten myself into?"
The only other truly epic moment I would consider in my life is probably the first major IED I hit in April of 2005, I'm pretty sure that was the death of my childhood and the official start to my adult life as far as I'm concerned.

Sept 11, 2001 was one for me. We were in South America for about three weeks when it happened and it went from a good time to a very fucking scary time. The whole ride from the hotel to the base I thought some guy was going to pull up next to us on a bike and fill it with holes.
When a Ranger element was flown in for our protection, things got kinda hairy too. Up until they got there some Argentine Special Forces guys were providing security. When the Rangers got off the C-130 they secured the area around it and lets just say there were some language barrier issues, but thank god no one started shooting.
My dad overdosing sucked. Getting married, moving out here, and getting divorced sucked too. Graduating here in a few months with a B.S.E.E. will be a pretty epic moment too.

A few pop up in my head, the day of my grandfathers funeral, my father dropped to a knee and wept (this was the first time I saw my father cry and somehow knew life was changing). Soon after our family started to fall apart. When I was pushed in a fire by a drunken close friend, I recieved 19 2nd degree burns, a stick in my left side and lost my business cause I couldn't work. My best is when I met my wife, it is corney but I knew I wanted to marry her. I am sure there are more but those are what come to mind first.

Ive got a handful that pop into mind when I try to think about it, but the one that never fails and always pops up without even having to try is the morning I was at my dads shop 5yrs ago working on building my car and I get a call from one of my best friends saying our friend shot himself the night before. On top of that, I was out the night before with a bunch of friends and ran into this friend. I grew up with him from kindergarden thru graduation, his dad was our peewee coach, and he was one of the oldest friends I had. It was his birthday night and he was out with his girlfriend and some other friends when I saw him about 11pm. I will forever kick myself for not talking him into finishing the night with us because I hadnt seen him in a long time and I was home on leave. I gave him a hug and told him happy birthday. The next morning my friend calls telling me he shot himself about 2am. 3 hours after I had seen him.
